Gunmen suspected to be cultists have reportedly killed a vulcaniser, identified as Bayo in Edo State.

It was gathered that the incident happened on Friday along Warreke Road in Auchi.

Source said the deceased was working in his workshop along the Warreke Road when gunmen reportedly shot him at a close range.

“Two armed men arrived on a motorcycle near the deceased’s roadside workshop. The passenger alighted from the motorcycle and walked towards the deceased, who was reportedly resting at his workspace,” he said.

He said the gunmen, on getting close to the deceased, shot him twice at close range, killing him on the spot and jumped on the motorcycle and zoomed off.

According to him, no one know the motive of the assailants as there was no confrontation, adding that the assailants may be assassins.

The state police spokesperson, CSP Moses Yamu, confirmed the incident.
