GNFS recovers body of schoolgirl from pool in Kasoa

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has recovered the body of a schoolgirl who was found dead in a pool of water at Kasoa in the Central Region.

The incident occurred on the night of Monday, June 23, 2025.

In a statement issued on June 24,2025, the GNFS said it received a distress call at 10:02 pm, prompting the immediate dispatch of a rescue team.

Personnel arrived at the scene at 10:28 pm and retrieved the body at 10:42 pm.

The deceased, identified as Gloria Segoe, was a student of Keta Business Senior High School, in the Volta Region.

Reports indicated that she had received permission from school authorities to visit her grandmother in Agbozome but instead travelled to Kasoa, allegedly to visit her boyfriend.

She is believed to have been with him for nearly three days.

According to the GNFS, the boyfriend reported himself to the Kasoa Police Station after learning of the incident.

He reportedly told police that he had left for work earlier in the day and was later informed of the tragedy.

The body has since been handed over to the Ghana Police Service for further investigation.

The GNFS commended its personnel for their swift response and professionalism during the operation.

The service also expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and urged students and young people to act responsibly with regard to their movements.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
