Amid the escalating scandal involving ghost names and alleged mismanagement of National Service funds, a controversial old Facebook comment by Gifty Oware-Aboagye has reignited public outrage.

In a viral screenshot, Oware-Aboagye—who previously held a senior role at the National Service Scheme (NSS)—is shown calling former President John Mahama, now the nation’s leader, an “idiot.” The remark, made under a post by NPP’s Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, has sparked widespread anger and shock on social media.

She wrote: “I’m sorry, but it’s time we tell this guy he’s acting like an ‘idiot.’ We as a country are hypocrites. Are people seeing this?”

The resurfaced insult comes at the worst possible time for Oware-Aboagye, who is already under fire after the Attorney General revealed that ₵548 million was lost to ghost names at the NSS. Even more damaging are allegations that she used NSS allowances as collateral for a ₵30 million loan from the Agricultural Development Bank.

As these controversies dominate public discourse, her past derogatory remark about Mahama has only amplified the backlash. Many social media users are now questioning her professionalism, integrity, and respect for national leadership.

Critics argue that such language is not just offensive but also reckless—particularly from someone who once managed public funds and held a position of national trust.

Meanwhile, pressure is mounting for Gifty to publicly address both the ghost name scandal and the viral insult. To date, she has remained silent on both controversies.

In the digital age, the internet never forgets—and in Ghana’s charged political environment, old posts can quickly reignite into full-blown crises. Oware-Aboagye now finds herself battling twin storms: a damaging financial scandal and a resurfaced political slur that continues to haunt her.
