Giants Draft Pick Emphasizes Physical Play

Cam Skattebo, who gained recognition in college football for Arizona State by running over defenders, was drafted by the New York Giants in the fourth round. His comments from rookie minicamp have generated excitement among fans for the upcoming 2025 season.
Skattebo expressed that while scoring a touchdown is rewarding, the prospect of running over an opponent on the way to the end zone is even more appealing. He emphasized the satisfaction of running someone over before scoring, suggesting it amplifies the feeling of success.
During his senior season with the Sun Devils, Skattebo accumulated 1,711 rushing yards and scored 21 touchdowns. Arizona State reached the College Football Playoff and narrowly lost to the Texas Longhorns in the Peach Bowl, concluding the season with an 11-3 record. Now, Skattebo aims to secure a spot on the Giants' 53-man roster.
He joins a running back roster that includes veteran Devin Singletary and Tyrone Tracy Jr., who had a strong rookie season, rushing for 839 yards and scoring five touchdowns. Despite acknowledging his elusiveness, Skattebo pledged to continue proving his doubters wrong.
Skattebo addressed his running style, noting a shift towards hitting players or attacking their shoulder, but hinted at the potential for more physical plays. He welcomed opponents underestimating him, stating that he's used to facing skepticism and will continue working to succeed and prolong his career in the league.
