Philip Etale, the ODM communications director, revealed details about the last day that George was on duty before he fell ill.
According to Etale, his final assignment was at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) during the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between President William Ruto and Raila.
Despite his impending illness, George remained in high spirits and carried out his duties with his characteristic calm and diligence.
"His last day on duty before he fell ill was during the signing of the MoU between President William Ruto and Raila Odinga at the KICC. He was jovial and very calm," Etale wrote in a Facebook tribute.
Etale’s tribute painted a picture of a man whose loyalty went beyond duty, a true friend and protector of Raila, who ensured the smooth running of the ODM leader’s security and schedule.
The ODM communications boss also recounted personal moments with George, reflecting on the countless support and encouragement he received from him, especially during challenging political moments.

Etale recalled how, during the 2022 general election campaign period, he had contemplated quitting his job due to frustrations but George persuaded him otherwise.
"Etale, we have been with mzee (Raila) for long. Let no one bother you. Raila sees you in high regard," George had told him, urging him to remain steadfast in his work.
These words, according to Etale, gave him the strength to stay on, choosing to focus on his responsibilities rather than resign.
Etale also remembered George's deep commitment to work, his kindness, and his ability to connect with various people. He noted that despite being a die-hard Chelsea fan, George would always sit through Arsenal matches with Raila, fully committed to ensuring the ODM leader was comfortable.
"George was a respectful man, an aide to Raila who understood the dynamics of politics. He knew very well that for Baba to succeed, he needed people. He never stopped anyone from talking to him because he knew politics is about people," Etale wrote.
Raila painfully mourned George, describing him as a pillar of strength, professionalism, and loyalty. He noted that George had served both him and his late father, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, with unmatched dedication.
He recalled George's loyal and dependable service dating back to the 1980s, standing by his side through political struggles and personal milestones.
Raila acknowledged the deep pain felt by George’s family, friends, and colleagues. He extended condolences to the late aide’s widow, Carol George.
