Oduor is one of the longest-serving personal bodyguards to the former prime minister.

Capital FM reported that Odiwuor passed away on Wednesday, April 2, at Nairobi West Hospital after a two-week admission; he was often seen in public with the ex-PM.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party’s Director of Communications, Philip Etale, took to his Facebook page and shared the news about Odiwour's death.

Etale mourned the departed soul as a friend who stood by him at all costs.

"This is one man who stood by me at all cost. I have lost a friend. Big bro. Rest Easy George. Wa!" Etale mourned

Oduor served as an aide to the veteran opposition leader for over two decades, and many Kenyans lauded him for his constant availability and assistance to the ODM leader.

He was a familiar figure at Raila’s events and engagements, including past anti-government demonstrations.

ODM deputy party leader and Mombasa governor Abdulswamad Sheriff Nassir also issued a statement mourning Raila's aide.

"George was not just a friend to me personally, but a cherished member of our broader community whose presence and warmth touched the lives of many. He was a man of great integrity, quiet strength, and unwavering commitment to the values that bind us together as a people. His passing is a deep loss—not only to his family and friends, but to all who had the privilege of knowing him. In moments like these, words often fall short, but we take solace in the rich legacy he leaves behind: one of kindness, service, and enduring friendship," Nassir mourned.

Jarunda Jaluth Mambobiad:

"It's truly sad to hear about the passing of George Odiwuor. His loyalty and dedication to his work must have made him a highly respected figure. With someone so experienced, it’s understandable that he would carry a wealth of knowledge and secrets, particularly regarding the Enigma, which hints at some fascinating, yet mysterious, aspects of his life and career."

Oduor's death comes less than three years after a bodyguard attached to Ida Odinga, the wife of the former prime minister, died.

Ida's bodyguard, Barrack Oduor, was shot dead on Friday, October 14, 2022, at around 3am, in the Mamboleo area of Kisumu.

Weighing in on the incident, Ida condoled with the family of her bodyguard and urged young people to avoid drug abuse.
