FULL LIST: All the records set in Chelsea 4-1 Conference League win over Betis
Chelsea claimed a 4-1 victory over Real Betis on Wednesday night in the UEFA Europa Conference League final, securing their first title in the competition and marking a historic moment for the club on the European stage.
With this triumph, Chelsea became the first team in football history to win all four major UEFA club competitions — the Champions League, Europa League, Cup Winners’ Cup, and Conference League. The club had previously won the Champions League and Europa League twice each, and the now-defunct Cup Winners’ Cup twice.
The victory also broke a long-standing record held by Spanish clubs. Before Wednesday’s result, Spanish men’s teams had gone unbeaten in 19 consecutive European finals against non-Spanish opponents, a streak that stretched back to 2001. Chelsea’s win brought that run to an end.
Chelsea midfielder Cole Palmer provided two assists in the final, joining a select group of players to register multiple assists in a major European final since the 2016/17 season. Only Real Madrid’s Marcelo and Atlético Madrid’s Koke had previously achieved that across UEFA’s three top-tier competitions.
Chelsea are now the fourth club to win the UEFA Europa Conference League since the tournament began in 2022. Each edition of the competition has seen a different champion, underscoring its competitive nature in its early years.
The result rounded off a strong year for clubs from the English capital. With Crystal Palace winning the FA Cup and Tottenham Hotspur lifting the Europa League trophy, Chelsea’s Conference League title completed a treble of major silverware for London sides in the 2024/25 season.
