Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle has reacted to his team’s performance in the friendly against Russia.
Nigeria held Valery Karpin’s side to a 1-1 draw in their international friendly at the Luzhniki Stadium, Moscow on Friday night.
Centre-back Semi Ajayi conceded an own goal to hand the home team the lead after 27 minutes.
The Super Eagles found their way back with substitute Tolu Arokodare equalising in the 71st minute.
Chelle admitted that the Russians made things difficult for his team.
“It was not an easy game because we played against a very good team,” the Malian said after the game.
“Russia have a good team with a lot of pressure and technical quality.
“They had their chances in the first half and they took it, we had our chance but the goalkeeper saved it.”
The Super Eagles remain unbeaten under Chelle with three wins and two draws from five games.
The three-time African champions will now shift attention to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in September.
They will host Rwanda at home in Uyo, before travelling to South Africa.
