Former Kansas Jayhawks guard Johnny Furphy throws down vicious dunk
While no departing Kansas basketball players are expected to make the jump to the next level, two former Jayhawks were selected in this past year's NBA Draft. Johnny Furphy was taken No. 35 overall by the Indiana Pacers, and Kevin McCullar went No. 56 overall to the New York Knicks.
Furphy was considered a sure-fire first-round pick going into the draft, but the Melbourne native fell much later than most scouts anticipated. He has played a minimal role for Indiana in 2024-25, appearing in 49 contests and averaging just over six minutes per contest.
On Friday night, Furphy saw extended playing time since the Pacers are locked into the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference and they rested their starters. As a result, he played in a season-high 32 minutes against the Orlando Magic. A little over a minute into the second quarter, Furphy blew by Anthony Black and got to the rim, where he eventually met Goga Bitadze for a monster jam:

Furphy did not display much athleticism during his lone season in Lawrence, but he is clearly capable of throwing down a mean poster. He met the 6-foot-11 Bitadze at the basket and dunked all over him.
While the Pacers did not win, Furphy played the best game of his young NBA career. He posted a season-high 17 points on 6-for-10 shooting, knocking down a pair of 3-pointers. The former Jayhawk also added six rebounds and three assists on 3-for-7 free throw shooting.
