First Clinical XoMotion Exoskeleton Delivered to Synaptic Health in Canada

On June 5, 2025, Human in Motion Robotics, a pioneer in robotic mobility innovation, announced a significant milestone from Calgary, Alberta: the delivery of the first XoMotion™ exoskeleton for clinical use to Synaptic Health. Synaptic Health, a leading neurorehabilitation center also based in Calgary, will now offer patients access to this breakthrough technology as part of their rehabilitation care, heralding a new chapter in neuro recovery.

XoMotion™ is distinguished as the world’s most advanced, self-balancing exoskeleton, uniquely engineered to emulate and restore natural human movement. It is the only fully actuated, all-joint robotic system of its kind. This technology offers individuals suffering from spinal cord injuries, stroke, and various other neurological conditions a renewed opportunity to regain the ability to walk with enhanced safety, comprehensive support, and precise control, aiming to restore independence and dignity.

Siamak Arzanpour, CEO of Human in Motion Robotics, described this development as “a transformative moment—not only for Human in Motion but for patients across Canada.” He emphasized that the availability of XoMotion™ at Synaptic Health provides direct access to “cutting-edge gait rehabilitation that can help restore independence and dignity.” The system enables therapists to conduct high-intensity, task-specific walking practice without the need for crutches or multiple staff members, thereby making advanced therapy more accessible and efficient. Uyen Nguyen, Executive Director and Lead Physiotherapist at Synaptic Health, echoed this sentiment, calling the technology “a game-changer for our patients.” She highlighted XoMotion's™ role in empowering individuals with mobility challenges by providing access to previously unattainable therapy and allowing the clinical team to deliver care “with greater impact, fewer barriers, and more flexibility.”

To showcase this innovative technology, Synaptic Neuro Rehabilitation Centre will host an exclusive media-only preview on Thursday, June 12, 2025. The event, commencing at 9:00 AM sharp with check-in opening at 8:45 AM, will be held at their facility located at 120-4129 8 St SE, Calgary, AB T2G 3A5. This preview will offer the press a first look at Canada’s inaugural clinical XoMotion™ installation, featuring a live, dynamic demonstration of the system in clinical use. Attendees will also have opportunities for visuals and interviews with key stakeholders. Featured participants include Uyen Nguyen, Executive Director of Synaptic Health; Siamak Arzanpour, CEO of Human in Motion Robotics; Chloe Angus, Director of Lived Experience at Human in Motion Robotics; and Ryan Straschnitzki, a Synaptic Client and Founder of the Straz Strong Foundation.

Individuals interested in undergoing rehabilitation treatment with XoMotion™ at Synaptic Health must first complete an initial assessment conducted by a Synaptic practitioner. This assessment is mandatory for both current and new clients of the center. To learn more about the process or to book an assessment, individuals can visit www.synaptichealth.ca/contact, email [email protected], or call 403-984-4909.

Human in Motion Robotics recently obtained its Medical Devices Establishment License, which authorizes the sale and distribution of XoMotion-R across Canada. With the first clinical installation now complete at Synaptic Health, other rehabilitation centers throughout Canada are eligible to purchase or request demonstrations of XoMotion™ for either clinical or research purposes. Interested parties can find more information or request a demonstration by visiting www.humaninmotion.com or contacting [email protected].
