Firm champions mechanisation at agric expo

AGCOMS International Trading, the official John Deere dealer, has said it is commited to Nigeria’s food security and modernisation through its presence at NAMPO 2025, Africa’s agricultural exhibition in South Africa.
Chief Executive Officer, Chijioke Okoli, noted the role of mechanisation in Nigeria’s agricultural transformation.
Despite Nigeria’s historic low mechanisation level, Okoli said it is vital the world knows that its prospects are bright because of the focus of Tinubu in increasing tractor usage…” he said.
He said: “The Tinubu administration is implementing initiatives to boost agricultural mechanisation nationwide…’’
“These include the deployment of over 30,000 tractors over five years, the establishment of mechanization hubs, and extensive training programs for tractor operators and mechanics.
Okoli described the company’s visit to NAMPO as more than symbolic.
“The trip was also an opportunity for us to see and learn from cutting-edge developments. This trip represents more than just attendance, it is a bold statement of our vision.
“We are committed to building the most knowledgeable and forward-thinking team in Africa. Exposure to advanced mechanization technology and global best practices is key to transforming our agricultural landscape.”
He said one of the major highlights of this year’s expo was the historic launch of the John Deere 9RX 830 hp tractor, the most powerful tractor ever introduced on the African continent.
With its combination of massive horsepower, quad-track agility, advanced technology, and operator comfort, the 9RX 830 is engineered for elite, large-scale operations demanding peak performance, efficiency, and precision.
AGCOMS, in its role as a leading mechanisation partner, is proud to be at the forefront of bringing such innovations to Nigerian soil.
During the exhibition, AGCOMS’ delegation engaged with leading Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), explored cutting-edge mechanisation solutions, and strengthened partnerships critical to Nigeria’s ongoing transition from manual to modern farming.

Organised annually by Grain SA, NAMPO is Africa’s premier platform for showcasing agricultural technology, innovation, and collaboration.
The 2025 edition hosted over 750 exhibitors from around the world, including equipment manufacturers, ag-tech firms, seed developers, and financial institutions, drawing over 80,000 visitors.
Also, in attendance was a delegation from Niger State, one of Nigeria’s most progressive sub-national governments in agricultural mechanization. The delegation was led by Mr. Sammy Adigun, CEO of Niger Foods.
