Five Nights at Freddy's: Secret of the Mimic is an upcoming Five Nights at Freddy's game and the eleventh mainline installment in the Five Nights at Freddy's series, as well as the fourth game in the franchise to be developed by Steel Wool Studios. It was first announced on August 6, 2024, and is set to release on June 13, 2025. It will prominently feature the Mimic.

Enter the abandoned workshop of Murray’s Costume Manor and unravel the mystery left behind by the reclusive inventor, Edwin Murray. In Five Nights at Freddy’s: Secret of the Mimic, you’ll step into a world where every dark corner holds a secret and every flicker of light hints at an ever-present threat. The Mimic, a prototype endoskeleton, can adapt to any costume and become any character, including what you fear most. Armed with only your wits, a few gadgets, and a heavily redacted corporate briefing, you’ll attempt to retrieve Fazbear’s prized prototype technology while grappling with cryptic clues and a relentless shadow determined to dispatch all unwanted company.

Even though the State of Play trailer revealed more about the gameplay not much is currently known regarding the gameplay, it is known from the demo that the game will follow a similar gameplay structure to Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach, being a first-person horror exploration game. Players will need to navigate environments to find items and activate switches. In the demo, the player is pursued by Jackie in scripted chase sequences. As per what was revealed in the State of Play Trailer, It seems like Jackie will not be the only threat. In VR, players will need to physically interact with the environment to perform actions such as turning a crank or pulling a cord to start a generator, as seen in the PAX demo.

On August 6, 2024, the game was announced by Steel Wool, along with a teaser trailer, title, and a release window of 2025.

On August 28, 2024, a PlayStation page was published, revealing the game would be playable in both non-VR and VR modes for the PlayStation VR2.^[2]

On August 30, 2024, a short VR demo of Secret of the Mimic was playable at PAX West 2024.

On September 20, 2024, the game was playable during the Day of the Devs Fantastic Games event, which took place during Fantastic Fest 2024. The game was also showcased in a 20 minute presentation accessible only to attendees of the event.^[3]

On February 12, 2025, the first trailer was revealed during a PlayStation State of Play, with the release date of June 13, 2025.

In the free content update for Help Wanted 2, a teaser sequence for the game was added, teasing a company called MCM. It is unknown what role they will play in the game, but fans speculate that it is the name of the factory where the game takes place.

• In the same update, a plushie of a white tiger with blue and green eyes was added to the game, likely in reference to the plush owned by David Murray. Due to analysis of the model, fans have speculated that this plush is in fact a scaled-down model of a mascot costume, one which could potentially appear within Secret of the Mimic.
  • This was seemingly confirmed with the release of the gameplay trailer on February 12, 2025, as the same model appears.
