SHENZHEN (China)- The final countdown to the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup 2025 is official now with the launch of the 50 Days to Go Countdown Clock on Saturday, May 24, 2025.

To mark the 50-day countdown, the City of Shenzhen and Tissot, the official global partner and timekeeper of FIBA, unveiled the Tissot Countdown Clock at “Eye of Shenzhen” Gangxia North Station, the biggest subway station in Asia.

Installed at a FIBA Women’s Asia Cup for the first time, it will be visible to nearly 300,000 commuters daily and play a significant role in promoting FIBA Asia’s flagship women’s basketball competition to be played from July 13-20.

The launch ceremony was led by FIBA Women’s Asia Cup 2025 Ambassadors Miao Lijie of China and Yuko Oga of Japan.

“Today marks an important milestone, and this edition of the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup 2025 promises to be special for many reasons,” said Mr. Hagop Khajirian FIBA Executive Director-Asia.

“The FIBA Women’s Asia Cup 2025 comes at a time when women’s National Teams from Asia are the true catalysts of the women’s basketball movement itself in the world,” he said.

“We do expect the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup 2025 to see these teams take the next leap,” he added.

“With the launch of the countdown clock, we have our tasks cut out,” said FIBA Asia Board member and Secretary General of the Chinese Basketball Association Xu Lan.

“We are now looking at the final path towards delivering a world-class event. And we are confident of doing that,” she said.

“In 50 days from now, the top women’s teams in Asia will be involved in a battle for the top honours,” said Song Pei, Deputy Director of the Sports Industry Development Department, Shenzhen Municipal Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau.

“Shenzhen is known as the city of innovation. And we are ready to show that we are great hosts for an international class basketball competition,” he added.

“The 50-day countdown to the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup 2025 not only signals the arrival of a world-class basketball competition back in China, but also reflects the continuous progress of Chinese basketball,” said Li Shuijing, National Sales Deputy Director of Tissot China.

“As a long-standing partner of FIBA, Tissot has always upheld the values of precision and innovation, bearing witness to countless exhilarating moments on the court,” she said.
