The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), under the leadership of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, has taken a significant step towards streamlining land administration in Abuja. The administration has approved the formation of Vetting Teams tasked with expediting the regularization of land allocations made by the six Area Councils within the Federal Capital Territory.

Chijioke Nwankwoeze, the FCT Director of Land Administration, announced this initiative during the inauguration of the Vetting Teams at his office. He emphasized that the Minister's approval came with specific directives, mandates, and terms of reference, all aimed at ensuring the swift completion of the regularization process.

A primary focus of these Vetting Teams will be resolving long-standing issues related to the titling of Mass Housing plots. According to Nwankwoeze, the new approach will ensure that all subscribers of unit houses within the Mass Housing Programmes receive individual titles for their properties. This measure is intended to address and resolve the lingering problems affecting the regularization of Area Councils' plot allocations and the titling of completed houses in all Mass Housing schemes.

The FCT Director of Land Administration asserted that the government is fully committed to resolving all outstanding issues related to land allocation regularization and the titling of houses within the Mass Housing programs. He believes that constituting the Vetting Teams will sanitize land administration practices, restore public confidence in the management of land assets within the territory, and that the Minister possesses the necessary 'political will' to see this process through to its conclusion.

Nwankwoeze characterized the establishment of the Vetting Teams as a decisive and irreversible move towards restoring order and public trust in the FCT's land administration system. He appealed for understanding and cooperation from both developers and prospective titleholders. He also assured that the FCT administration is dedicated to delivering effective services to all developers, titleholders, and prospective titleholders, aligning with the principles and aspirations of President Bola Tinubu's 'Renewed Hope Agenda'.

The FCTA views this initiative as a critical step in ensuring transparency, efficiency, and public trust in land administration within the Federal Capital Territory, ultimately benefiting both developers and residents.
