FCT, Kwara, Benue to experience thunderstorms, rains Sunday evening -FEMD

FCT Emergency Management Department (FEMD), on Saturday disclosed that thunderstorms and rains are anticipated over parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in the early evening of Sunday the 8th of June.
FEMD said states contiguous to the FCT as well as Kwara, Benue and Plateau States are expected to experience similar weather conditions.
Following the early warning issued by the Nigeria Meteorological Agency NiMET, the Ag Director General of the FCT Emergency Management Department, (FEMD), Engr, Abdulrahman Mohammed appealed to residents to avoid driving into a pool of water.
A statement issued by the Head Public Affairs, Nkechi Isa, FEMD boss said; “Please always wait for the water level to recede before driving during a heavy downpour “.
He appealed to residents to take adequate precaution and to switch off electrical appliances during the rain.
He said; “On Monday the 9th of June, morning thunderstorms and rains are anticipated over parts of the FCT, Niger, Kogi and Nasarawa States.
“Similarly, on Tuesday parts of the FCT, Nasarawa,Nigeria, Benue and Plateau States are expected to experience early evening thunderstorms with rain”.
Meanwhile, the FEMD boss has emphasized the need for residents to always use the 112 emergency toll free number in the event of an emergency.
