The grieving family further called on the state government to formally acknowledge that students are no longer safe in their communities and issue a public apology.

The family of Ahmed Musa, a student of Government Technical College, Malali, Kaduna, who was brutally killed 29 days ago, has announced plans to take legal action and stage a mass protest against the Kaduna State Government over its alleged failure to respond to their demands for justice and compensation.

The incident took place on February 16, 2025, at the school.

However, in a statement released on Monday, the family described Ahmed Musa’s death as a “reflection of how insecure and unsafe” Nigeria has become for young people striving for a better future.

They demanded an “expedited, transparent, and decisive legal process” to ensure justice is served, while vowing to resist any political interference or compromise.

The grieving family further called on the state government to formally acknowledge that students are no longer safe in their communities and issue a public apology. Additionally, they are demanding N560.3 million in compensation for what they described as "unfair treatment" following the tragic death of their son.

In a statement jointly signed by Comrade Musa Mohammed (Moonlight), Mal. Almustapha Musa, Mrs. Mariya Abdullahi andMrs. Lauratu Abdullahi, the family also warned that failure to meet their demands would lead to mass protests across Kaduna State.

The statement reads in part, "Today, Monday, 17th March 2025, marks exactly 29 days since Ahmed Musa was brutally killed at Government Technical College, Malali, Kaduna. As the family of the deceased, we are preparing to take legal action to demand justice and adequate compensation for the unfair treatment we have suffered.

"The tragic incident involving our son is a reflection of the insecurity and danger young Nigerians face while striving for a better future.

"We are hereby demanding an expedited, transparent, and decisive legal process to ensure that justice is served. We will resist any attempts at political interference or compromise.

"We call on the Kaduna State Government to acknowledge that students are no longer safe in their communities. If young people can be killed in such a gruesome manner, what hope is left for the future of Nigeria?

"Additionally, we demand: A formal apology from the Kaduna State Government; comprehensive compensation for the family and the sum of Five Hundred and Sixty Million, Three Hundred Thousand Naira (₦560,300,000) as compensation.

"We believe the time has come for the Kaduna State Government and all those who stand for justice and humanity to respond to our calls for accountability and redress. This is why we will go to court.

"Furthermore, we warn the Kaduna State Government that if our demands are not met, we will mobilize a mass protest across Kaduna State.”

"This is about the fundamental right to life that every Nigerian student deserves. We will not sit idle while students are hunted and butchered," the statement added.
