Explosions rocked Odesa overnight on May 24 due to Russian drone strike, air defenses active | RBC-Ukraine

Explosions were heard in the Odesa area during the night of May 24. Russia launched kamikaze drones toward the city, and Ukrainian forces are shooting down the hostile aerial targets, according to the Ukrainian Air Forces and local Odesa social media sources.

Military officials reported detecting movement of Russian strike drones in the Odesa region. Shaheds were heading toward Odesa from the Black Sea.

Around 00:20 AM Kyiv time, local Odesa social media began reporting air defense activity in the city area. Local media also covered the events.

Additionally, residents of Odesa shared online that explosions were heard in the city amid the drone attack.

Additionally, the spokesperson for the Ukrainian Volunteer Army and head of the Public Council at the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Serhii Bratchuk, reported air defense activity in Odesa on his channel.

Local authorities have not yet commented on any possible consequences of the latest air attack on Odesa. Meanwhile, residents of Odesa and the region were urged to stay in shelters until the all-clear signal and to observe information silence.

On May 23, Russian forces launched a missile strike on Odesa. At least two people were killed and several others wounded as a result of the attack.

Russian forces struck Odesa twice on Friday, targeting, among other things, port infrastructure.

On the evening of May 23, Russian forces launched several groups of strike drones towards Ukraine as part of a new air assault. Due to the threat of Shahed attacks, air raid alerts were declared in several regions.

We also reported that amid the drone attack, explosions were heard in Kyiv and the Kyiv region, with air defense systems active.

In Kyiv, debris from downed drones was recorded in the Holosiivskyi district. Two people were reported injured in the Brovary district of the Kyiv region due to the Shahed strike.
