Exclusive! Actress Sanjjanaa Galrani reacts to Tamannaah Bhatia Mysore Sandal controversy | Celebrity News - News9live
Tamannah Bhatia is in controversy from last one day due to karnatka goverment’s move .
Tamannaah Bhatia has been embroiled in a massive controversy after the government of Karnataka appointed her the brand ambassador for two years of the Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited, which is behind the famous Mysore Sandal Soap.
As the announcement was made official on May 22, it was revealed that she has been paid almost Rs 6.2 crore for being the brand ambassador of Mysore Sandal Soap, sparking a row. Now, in an exclusive conversation with News9, Telugu actress Sanjjanaa Galrani reacted to the same. Let’s dive into the details to know what she said and what really led to the controversy.
The State government stated that it wants to make the brand’s reach global, and therefore, Tamannaah has been chosen as the brand ambassador. While in an exclusive interview with News 9, Telugu actress Sanjjanaa Galrani, who is best known for her films Ganda Hendathi (2006) and Mathe Banni Preethsona (2011), expressed her views on the ongoing controversy.
She told us that she is not envious of the fact that she didn’t get this opportunity, but she is worried that the state’s money, which comes from the taxes of the common people, is being wasted on a luxurious expense. She opined that the money can be saved if any Telugu or Kannada actor or actress had been given this opportunity, as anyone would have done it without being paid.
The actress expressed her disappointment, stating that the money could have been better used to help rescue people affected by the ongoing floods in Karnataka. She further added that it could have supported infrastructure development, provided food, shelter, and clothing for the underprivileged, or even been allocated to the Sandalwood industry. According to her, seeing hard-earned money wasted in this manner is deeply upsetting.
The Congress-led government has signed a two-year contract with Tamannaah Bhatia, and the move has drawn sharp criticism from pro-Kannada groups, local activists and opposition leaders. The row has triggered a debate over regional identity and its representation. Another reason for the controversy was that Tamannaah is a non-Kannada speaking actor, so why is she being appointed the ambassador of such a prestigious brand, many questioned.
