All roads lead to Evans Square, Ebute Metta, Lagos, where the finals of the maiden DKO Yaba Sports Festival, sponsored by the General Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, Dr Daniel Olukoya, holds today.

According to the organisers, the event, which is part of Dr Olukoya’s empowerment of the people of Yaba, where the church headquarters is located, is a yearly competition for the youths and aged in the community, with winners slated to get cash prizes, trophies and medals.

According to MFM Director of Sports, Godwin Enakhena, seven different events will feature in tomorrow’s finals, including football, table tennis, scrabble, monopoly, chess, Ayo Olopon and basketball.

He said: “A few years ago, the MFM General Overseer, Dr Olukoya, introduced a divinely ordained 70-point Youth Repositioning Agenda meant to engage the youths in profitable ventures. Sports happened to be one of them.

“The DKO Yaba Sports Festival is the latest example of Dr Olukoya’s good intentions for the youths and the society at large. Interestingly, the aged in the Yaba community are not left out of this event. They’re playing Ayo Olopon and draught. Even some of them are playing monopoly, scrabble and Table Tennis.”
