Passaris urged him to support President William Ruto and put aside their political differences for the sake of the country.

Speaking at an event on Tuesday, March 4, Passaris stressed the importance of unity among Kenya’s leaders to ensure the government functions effectively.

In her address, Passaris highlighted the unique role Uhuru plays as Kenya’s only living former president.

She stressed that his support for the current administration is crucial for the country’s stability and progress.

"You know, Kenya has had several presidents; Jomo Kenyatta has passed away, then we had Moi, who has also passed away, followed by Kibaki, who has also passed away. We then had Uhuru Kenyatta, who is still alive. And you know, it is very important for a former president who is still alive to support the current sitting president. Because if he fails to do so, our government will not function properly," Passaris said.

Passaris also appealed to Uhuru’s close relationship with former prime minister Raila Odinga, urging the former president to leverage this connection to bring Ruto and Raila together.

She expressed confidence in Raila’s ability to prioritise Kenya’s interests over political differences.

Passaris further emphasised Uhuru’s vested interest in Kenya’s future, citing his extensive investments and family ties to the country.

She urged him to take an active role in fostering dialogue and collaboration among Kenya’s political leaders.

"And because I know he is close to Baba (Raila Odinga), and Baba is someone who, when he analyses situations, considers what is best for Kenya, I want to appeal to President Uhuru Kenyatta. Please, Baba knows how to put differences aside and focus on Kenya and how the country can move forward," she stated.

On Monday, March 3, the former president and Raila held a private meeting at a resort in Kilifi county.

The gathering also included Kilifi governor Gideon Mung'aro and Jubilee Party cice chairman David Murathe.

Photos of the meeting circulated on social media, sparking widespread speculation regarding its purpose, especially in light of ongoing discussions about a potential cooperation agreement between Raila and Ruto.

The meeting has ignited various interpretations among Kenyans with some suggesting that Uhuru may be attempting to dissuade Raila from pursuing an alliance with Ruto ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Others believe the leaders were strategising to ensure their political interests are safeguarded in any forthcoming Ruto-Raila agreement.
