Emiliano Martinez unlikely to move to Manchester United with his agent driving all recent rumours

Published 10 hours ago2 minute read

With Andre Onana’s future in the air, Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez continues to get linked with a move to Manchester United.

There have been rumours that the Cameroonian could be on his way to Monaco, in which case, the World Cup winner will be targeted.

But Fabrizio Romano has poured cold water on rumours of Onana leaving for France, and now, Nathan Salt of The Daily Mail has claimed that it is unlikely that the the Villa No.1 will switch to Manchester from Birmingham.

It is well-known that Villa are under PSR pressure to sell before the end of the month, and their £40 million asking price is likely to prove beyond United’s reach.

The reporter even claimed that the Argentina international’s agent has been working overdrive to generate links with the Red Devils and there is not much truth in these rumours.

No approach from #mufc and all indications have been of Andre Onana staying (and playing)

As of now, Onana is likely to stay, as was relayed by The Peoples Person due to the lack of concrete offers from the Saudi Pro League.

“Emi Martinez’s camp working overtime to make it known he’s eager to join Man United.

“No approach from #mufc and all indications have been of Andre Onana staying (and playing),” Salt wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Onana to stay

Emiliano Martinez is 32 and while he is a world-class shot-stopper, his performances were far from flawless last season.

In fact, the United No.1 has kept more clean sheets and made more saves over the course of the last couple of seasons as compared to Emiliano Martinez.

There are better, younger and more cost-effective options on the table for the 20-time English league champions as things stand.

The Villa goalie has also been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid, a move which makes more sense especially if Jan Oblak does end up leaving.
