Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) | Air Transat
This entry requirement is for visa-exempt foreign nationals travelling to Canada by air.
You are a temporary resident or a tourist in Canada? You will also need an ETA.
This document will be required at check-in, along with a valid passport.
Holders of a valid Canadian passport, Canadian Permanent Resident Card (PRC) or Canadian visa including an ETA, as well as U.S. citizens, are ineligible for an eTA and must present their original documents for travel.

Most applicants get their eTA approval within minutes. Air Transat strongly recommends that eligible travellers apply for the eTA when booking their flight and check on the status of their application on the Government of Canada’s official website, at Canada.ca/eta.
Canadian citizens, including dual Canadian citizens, need to show proof that they are Canadian to board their flight to Canada. A valid Canadian passport is the only reliable and universally accepted travel and identification document available to Canadians for the purpose of international air travel.
If you’re a dual Canadian citizen used to travelling to or transiting through Canada by air with a non-Canadian passport, you will no longer be able to do so. You will need a valid Canadian passport to board your flight. Find out how to apply for or renew a passport at Canada.ca/passport.
Canadian permanent residents must present a valid Canadian Permanent Resident Card (PRC) or Permanent Resident Travel Document (PRTD), as well as a valid passport, to board a flight to Canada. Learn more about travelling as a Canadian permanent resident at Canada.ca/PR-card.
