The Vice-Chancellor, Ekiti State University, (EKSU), Ado Ekiti, Professor Joseph Babatola, has commended the Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele for numerous philanthropic gestures towards the institution.

Speaking at the 29th convocation ceremony of the university, the VC stated that Bamidele’s philanthropic gestures were not limited to the university but also across communities in the state.

According to the VC, some of the projects which the senator completed and donated to the university include:  male and female hostels for medical students; a mini-stadium in the university; and construction of FM radio station for the university.

In appreciation, the university conferred an honorary Doctor of Law Degree on him.

Meanwhile, Bamidele was accompanied by Governor Abiodun Oyebanji when he presented a completed Oja Oba Ultra Modern Market, powered with solar street lights at Igede Ekiti community.

The governor also inaugurated another ultra modern market with solar powered street lights at Aramoko Ekiti also built by the senate leader for the use of the community.

The traditional ruler of the town, Oba James Adelusi Aladesuru II, and other community leaders who spoke at the event, thanked the senator for fulfilling his campaign promises to his constituents.

Oyebanji commended the senate leader, who he described as a gift to Ekiti State. 

The governor also thanked the people of the senatorial district for their support for his government and assured the people of more government presence.

Also, Bamidele led the governor and other dignitaries to Iyin Ekiti his hometown where the governor inaugurated late Mrs. Abiyamo Juliana Tinuola Bamidele Memorial Ultra Modern Event Centre, and handed over to Bababoni Anglican Church, Iyin Ekiti.

The Oluyin of Iyin Ekiti, Oba Adeniyi Ajakaiye during the thanksgiving service at the Babanboni Memorial Church, assured the senate leader of the people’s support and prayers as he extend his gratitude to other senators who accompanied him for the inauguration of the projects.

Oba Ajakaiye described Bamidele as a lover of education even as he thanked President Bola Tinubu for honouring the senate leader by approving the new Federal University of Technology and Environmental Science, Iyin Ekiti.
