The Member of Parliament for Effia, Isaac Boamah Nyarko, has called on supporters of the various New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopefuls to remain decorous and respectful in their campaigns as the party prepares for its upcoming parliamentary primaries.
Nyarko emphasised the importance of maintaining a peaceful and respectful atmosphere during the electoral process.
Speaking on Citi Eyewitness News on Thursday, June 19, 2025 the MP stressed that unity and discipline within the party are essential as it prepares for internal elections.
According to a report by citinewsroom.com dated June 19, 2025, Nyarko’s plea comes in anticipation of the NPP’s primaries, where candidates will compete for the party’s nomination.
He urged supporters to focus on highlighting the strengths and visions of their preferred candidates rather than engaging in personal attacks on opponents, emphasising that the ultimate goal is to win the trust and support of the broader Ghanaian electorate.
The MP’s call for decorum is seen as a move to promote a positive and issue-based campaign, rather than one marred by negativity.
“It is about the people. Let the message resonate with them. Convince them you are the best person to lead. At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter how many people are voting, 200,000 or more. In the last election, millions voted. We are just a small fraction making a decision,” he explained.
As the primaries approach, the NPP’s internal dynamics will be closely watched.
“The bigger picture is the people, the Ghanaian electorate. It’s important that we raise the standard and the bar beyond our small groups, whether five people here or seven there. Go wherever you choose to campaign, but let us be decorous in our language and sell our candidates respectfully,” he added.
