Ed Sheeran is speaking out after police in India pulled the plug on a surprise street concert he was performing for a crowd of spectators.
After fan-captured video footage was shared on social media showing the Feb. 9 incident, the "Shivers" singer, 33, posted a message on his Instagram Stories, assuring his followers it's "all good" as he explained his perspective on what happened.
"We had permission to busk btw, hence us playing in that exact spot, was planned out before, it wasn't just us randomly turning up," he wrote.
"All good though," he continued, adding, "See ya at the show tonight x."

Sheeran, who is in the middle of an international leg of his Mathematics tour, performed a pair of shows at NICE Grounds in the southern India city of Bengaluru on Saturday, Feb. 8, and Sunday, Feb. 9.
In the street concert video, the musician can be seen singing his hit "Shape of You" while dressed in shorts, a T-shirt and sunglasses. He had a simple setup consisting of a stand mic and an acoustic guitar as he stood in front of a mural-painted wall. Fans can be heard singing along to the lyrics off camera, before a uniformed officer approached Sheeran and bent down to unplug the microphone.
Two men attempted to intervene, but the officer was undeterred. While Sheeran valiantly attempted to carry on with his performance, once his mic was cut, he smiled and shrugged in defeat.
In another video, Sheeran can be heard telling the crowd, “Everyone, we had permission to do this, but this policeman is shutting it down.”
Despite the abrupt end to Sheeran's set, it seems fans got a kick out of the four-time Grammy winner's surprise street-side serenade. One spectator wrote on X, "Went for a casual walk on Church Street and stumbled upon Ed Sheeran performing live. What a city!"

Later on Sunday, Sheeran posted another snap on his Instagram Stories, showing himself posing in what appeared to be a backstage green room. He captioned it "Night 2" ahead of his second Bengaluru show.
Amid his time in India — his concert tour takes him on to Shillong and Delhi next — Sheeran has shared lots of highlights on Instagram, including getting his very first sitar lesson with Megha Rawoot, whom he described in a Feb. 7 post as "a great teacher." It didn't take long before he was enthusiastically jamming out as he strummed the instrument and began singing "Shape of You."
In another Instagram post on Feb. 6, which he titled "India dump 2," Sheeran shared a series of photos and clips of some of his adventures in India. Per his caption, he saw "the sights in style," spent some time with England's cricket team (who happened to be in the country) and hung out in the recording studio with Grammy-winning composer and performer A. R. Rahman, who scored the 2008 movie Slumdog Millionaire.
Sheeran's India tour dates come just weeks after he made history by becoming the first international music artist to perform a concert in Bhutan. In a Jan. 25 Instagram video reflecting on the milestone, the "Bad Habits" singer said, "It's mad that this is the first international concert here," as he stood by the stage setup at the Bhutan venue.
"I hope that there's many more to come," he added.
In the post's caption, Sheeran raved, "What a gig, what a country, what a beautiful place with incredible people," and thanked "every volunteer who helped put on such a historic show."
