AJ Dybantsa, Caleb Holt, JJ Mandaquit, Brandon McCoy, Koa Peat, Jordan Smith and Tyran Stokes were all part of the USA team that broke FIBA U17 World Cup record after record last summer with Dybantsa being named to the All-Star Five of the tournament.
The other five players on the final squad for Lausanne were members of the team that took the trophy at the FIBA U18 AmeriCup 2024.

Seven players returning to play for USA Basketball the following summer after winning the FIBA U17 World Cup sets a new record for the country. The previous mark was five in 2015 with 2014 U17 world champions Terrance Ferguson, Harry Giles, Josh Jackson, Caleb Swanigan and Jayson Tatum.
Seven players competing in the U19 World Cup despite being a younger generation is not a new mark for USA Basketball though. It evened the septet from 2019, but the USA team from the famous 1987 U19 World Cup included nine bottom level players, including Gary Payton, Larry Johnson, Stacey Augmon and Lionel Simmons.
USA head coach Tommy Lloyd chose the 12 players from an original training camp player pool of 31 staring with the training camp starting on June 14.
USA have been drawn into Group D of the FIBA U19 World Cup along with 2003 winners Australia, a France team that has reached the Finals in the last two editions, and debutants Cameroon. The Americans are already record eight-time U19 world champions but slumped to fourth place in 2023.
