Doctor, pharmacist arrested over death of security guard in Bauchi - Daily Trust

The Bauchi State Police Command says it has arrested a medical doctor, Musa Awwal and Ibrahim Yahaya, a pharmacist at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital Bauchi (ATBUTH) over the death of one Polmi Dauda, a 20-year-old security guard.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Ahmed Wakil, who disclosed this in a statement, said on March 22 at about 12:50 pm, the victim’s brother, Mr Danda Dauda, reported the incident at the Bauchi Metro Area Command.

He said, “Mr Dauda reported that Polmi had sustained serious injuries due to an altercation with several individuals at a location adjacent to the Larema Hotel, where he worked. This case was subsequently referred to the E divisional police headquarters in Yelwa for a thorough investigation.”

Wakil said that despite the swift response of medical personnel at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Polmi was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at the facility.

Wakil explained that preliminary investigations suggest that the altercation may have stemmed from an allegation of theft involving clothing and personal items belonging to a tenant.

He added that,‘’The individuals involved identified as Ibrahim Yahaya, a pharmacist at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi, Musa Awwal, a medical doctor at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi, Imrana Ibrahim, a local businessman and one Zakariya’u Isah, another security guard are believed to have conspired to confront Polmi, which led to his death.

Wakil noted that the police had taken the suspects into custody and were providing critical information to assist in the ongoing investigation, adding that the deceased’s body had been deposited for postmortem examination at the ATBUTH’s mortuary.
