According to Mr Anthony Manu, the Nkoranza South Municipal Returning Officer of the EC said the DLEs were conducted in the 29 Electoral Areas (EAs) made up of 162 Polling Stations (PSs) within the voting periods of 0700 hours and 1700 hours, without hitches.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr Manu added however, that the conduct of the unit committee elections was withheld in six EAs comprising 41 PSs.
That, he explained was because the affected EAs were unable to present the more than five candidates required for the conduct of the unit committee elections.
He said 94 candidates including two females contested in the District Assembly Elections, while 209 candidates comprising 191 males and 18 females vied at the unit committee level.
Mr Manu said the EC was still collecting voting materials, from especially the hard-to-reach communities in the District and commended the candidates and their following for the way and manner they comported themselves.
He also expressed appreciation to the stakeholders including the electorate for their support and cooperation throughout the voting period.
