Techiman, (Bono East), May 11, GNA – A total of 32 female candidates are vying for unit committee representations in the upcoming District Level Elections (DLEs) in the Nkoranza North and Nkoranza South in the Bono East Region.
Dr Gabriel Dei Yeboah, the Bono East Regional Director of the Electoral Commission (EC), disclosed this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA).
However, he added that the figure represented 13 percent of the total number of 241 candidates vying in the Unit Committee Elections.
The EC, in a statement, announced the mounting of campaign platforms for the candidates to engage their respective constituents, and share their manifestoes and visions, between Friday May 9, and Sunday, May 11, 2025.
The campaign would enable the electorate to make informed decisions, and vote for candidates of their choice when they go to polls on Tuesday May 13.
Dr Yeboah indicated that 190 candidates, comprising 176 males and 14 females were contesting the elections in Nkoranza North which had 26 Electoral Areas.
He added that a total of 209 candidates, made up of 191 males and 18 females were contesting the Elections in Nkoranza South, which had 29 Electoral Areas.
Dr Yeboah said the campaigns, which started on Friday May 9, were progressing, and held successfully in some of the Electoral Areas.
