Descendants 5 Casts the Children of Robin Hood, Dr. Facilier & Mr. Smee

The children of Robin Hood, Dr. Facilier, and Mr. Smee will make their debut in Descendants 5. The upcoming movie will serve as a sequel to 2024's Descendants: The Rise of Red.

According to Deadline, (Trickster), (The Flash), (Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies) and , the son of Robin Hood; , the son of Dr. Facilier from The Princess and The Frog; , the twin sons of Mr. Smee from Peter Pan, respectively. The casting report also states that production on the Disney sequel will begin "shortly."

Descendants 5 was announced in February 2025, with Kylie Cantrall and Malia Baker set to reprise their roles as the daughters of the Queen of Hearts and Cinderella, respectively, from The Rise of Red. Leonardo Nam will also return as Maddox Hatter, the son of the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland, who also made his Descendants debut in the 2024 installment. Actors who will also be making their franchise debut in Descenders 5 include Liamani Segura (High School Musical: The Musical: The Series) as Red's sister Pink; Brendon Tremblay as the Mad Hatter's other son, Max Hatter; Alexandro Byrd as Luis Madrigal, the son of Encanto's Luisa Madrigal; and Kiara Romero as Captain Hook's daughter, Hazel.

The first Descendants movie was directed by High School Musical helmer Kenny Ortega and premiered on Disney Channel in 2015 to an audience of 6.6 million. The Disney Channel Original Movie follows the teenage children of Maleficent, the Evil Queen, Jafar, and Cruella de Vil as they adjust to life outside their island prison, while at the same time trying to steal the Fairy Godmother's wand and free their parents from captivity.

The success of the 2015 movie led to the launch of a massive multimedia franchise that currently consists of three sequels, an animated short-form series, novels, and a musical. The latest live-action movie, Descendants: The Rise of Red, premiered on Disney+ in July 2024, following Red, the teenage daughter of the Queen of Hearts, and Chloe, the daughter of Cinderella and Prince Charming, as they team up and travel back in time to prevent a catastrophic event.

Disney Cancels the Sequel to 1 of the Best Animated Movies of the 2000s After 5 Years of Development

As part of a major content shift for Walt Disney Animation Studios, a previously announced sequel from the studio has been scrapped.

Descendants 5 will pick up shortly after the events of The Rise of Red, exploring "what 'happily ever after' is really like for Red and Chloe following their return from their time-traveling adventures and delves into the warning at the end of The Rise of Red, 'There are consequences when you alter the fabric of time.'" Kimmy Gatewood (The Baby-Sitters Club) is set to direct Descendants 5 from a script by co-executive producer Tamara Chestna (Sneakerella) and Dan Frey and Ru Sommer (The Rise of Red).

"The love for the Descendants franchise runs deep, and the incredible response to Descendants: The Rise of Red last year proved just how much fans are invested in these characters and their stories," said Disney Branded Television president Ayo Davis when the sequel was first announced. "Our next movie will build on that legacy and deliver even more of the magic, music and heart that make Descendants so special — brought to life by an amazing cast and creative team who continue to elevate this world in new and exciting ways."

The first four Descendants movies are streaming on Disney+. A release date for Descendants 5 hasn't been announced yet.
