Delivery agent held for swapping returned products with used items

New Delhi: A 22-year-old delivery agent has been arrested for allegedly duping two e-commerce platforms by replacing returned items with old or used products. Working as a delivery boy, he would collect genuine returns from customers and discreetly swap them with worn-out goods before submitting the parcels back to the companies.According to police, the fraud came to light after an e-FIR was registered at Bindapur police station, flagging suspicious return activities linked to a delivery boy. The complainants alleged that the delivery agent regularly swapped genuine returned products with used or unrelated items before handing them back to the companies."Following the complaint, a police team was constituted that used technical surveillance and field intelligence to identify the individual as Kishan, a resident of Vijay Enclave, Dwarkapuri.

He was traced and arrested from Rajapuri in Uttam Nagar," DCP (Dwarka) Ankit Singh said.P

olice said Kishan was working with two e-commerce platforms and devised a method to exploit the return process for personal gain. "He would collect returned packages from customers and discreetly replace them with old clothes, used gadgets, or low-value items, which he then submitted back to the companies," DCP Singh added.During a search of his residence, 38 fraudulently exchanged packages were recovered. These included 22 packets of clothing, three wristwatches, two pairs of slippers, one pair of shoes, a tablet, a mobile phone, and several other miscellaneous items. Two of the recovered gadgets, a tablet and a phone, were found to be linked to previous e-FIRs registered at Bindapur and Uttam Nagar police stations.Police registered a case, and the seized items were sent for verification. Further investigation is underway to determine if more individuals were involved in the racket.
