Delhi Weather Update: Monsoon To Cover City In Next 36 Hours, IMD Issues Yellow Alert For Rain & Thunderstorms - Check Forecast News24 -

With the monsoon approaching Delhi, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alert for rainfall and thunderstorm on Wednesday. The Southwest monsoon has further advanced over remaining parts of north Arabian Sea, some more parts of West Uttar Pradesh, some parts of Haryana; Chandigarh, remaining parts of Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and some more parts of Punjab. According to the IMD, conditions are favourable for progression of southwest monsoon over some more parts of Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and remaining parts of West Uttar Pradesh during next 36 hours.

Pre-monsoon shower conditions have begun in the capital which includes sharp drop in maximum temperatures, sudden thunderstorms, light to moderate rain, high humidity levels etc. Light showers were witnessed on Tuesday, June 24.

The IMD forecast for Wednesday, June 25, indicates a pleasant day for residents and relief from the scorching heat. Thunderstorm with rain is expected today. The sky will remain cloudy with maximum temperature expected to remain at 36°C. Gusty winds (speed 30-40 kmph) temporarily reaching 50 kmph during thunderstorm are predicted. Moreover, the IMD has issued a yellow alert for rain and thunderstorm. While the day is expected to be pleasant, rising humidity levels might make it uncomfortable.

Delhi will continue to witness rainy spell throughout the week (June 22-29), with yellow alert issued until June 26. The IMD has ruled out any heatwave condition this week. Here’s detailed forecast for the upcoming days.

Generally cloudy sky with light rain accompanied with thunderstorm/ lightning is expected on Thursday. The maximum temperature will remain at 35°C. A yellow alert has been issued for moderate rain.
The maximum temperature will remain around 34°C. Rain will continue to lash the national capital on Friday.
 Generally cloudy sky with possibility of rain or Thunderstorm has been forecast by the IMD. The maximum temperature is expected to remain at 34°C.
 Rain or Thundershowers has been predicted for Sunday. The maximum temperature will remain at 33°C.
