Defect with me to APC or resign, Gov Eno tells cabinet

Published 8 hours ago2 minute read

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom has directed all commissioners and political appointees to defect with him from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) or resign from their positions. Eno said it was no longer news that he had decided to defect to the APC.

“Anybody who claims he is not aware of my intention to leave PDP is still living in the 18th century, “Eno stated. The Governor reportedly gave the directive to Commissioners and his political appointees during the ongoing state Executive Council Meeting taking place in Uyo on Thursday, according to sources from the meeting.

According to Governor Eno, he has admired President Bola Tinubu from a distance and would want to align with him. He warned his appointees that he had nothing to negotiate with them than for them to follow him or leave the stage.

“Apart from elected officials like House of Assembly members and Local Government Chairmen, I have nothing to negotiate with you.

“Let me tell you, anybody who believes when I leave PDP, he will use the party structure to fight me is lying because I will still control the PDP structure”, the source quoted Eno as saying.

Many sources have confirmed that Eno would likely jettison PDP on June 6, bringing to an end more than 25 years of the party being in power in Akwa Ibom State.
