CS Mbadi revokes ex-governor Wangamati's appointment as PSSF Board chair
Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi has revoked the appointment of former Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati as the chairperson of the Public Service Superannuation Fund Board of Trustees.
In an official Gazette Notice, the CS noted that the revocation took effect on Friday, June 27, marking a total tenure of one year and 19 days in the position.
"In exercise of the powers conferred by section 10 (1) (a) of the Public Service Superannuation Scheme Act, as read together with section 51 (1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act, the Cabinet Secretary for National Treasury and Economic Planning revokes the appointment of Wyclifee Wafula Wangamati as the chairperson of the Public Service Superannuation Fund Board of Trustees, with effect from June 27, 2025," the notice read in part.
The chairperson of the Board plays a crucial role in overseeing the scheme's management and administration, while also guiding the overall strategic direction of the PSSF.
Wangamati was appointed to chair the Board in June last year by former Treasury CS Njuguna Ndung'u.
He was set to serve for three years after his appointment.
Prior to his appointment, Wangamati served as the second governor in Bungoma County. He has previously held senior management positions in the pensions and investment consultancy sector, both locally and internationally.
