Although they had to win the match, they also had to hope for a Bayern Munich win over Benfica.
Instead, the Portuguese team won 1-0 to finish top of the group.
Esperance have also been sent packing, after they they were thrashed 3-0 by Chelsea in the early hours of Wednesday.
Tosin Adarabioyo, Liam Delap and Tyrique George got the goals for the Blues.
The other teams that have been eliminated are: FC Porto, Al Ain, Wydad AC, Atletico Madrid, Seattle Sounders, Al Ahly, Los Angeles FC, Auckland City, Pachuca, Ulsan HD and Urawa Red Diamonds.
