China deepens educational, cultural ties with Nigeria through donations to Ogun school
In a move to foster cultural exchange and support basic education, the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Lagos, in collaboration with the Guangdong Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone of Nigeria (also known as the “Cooperation Zone”), has donated essential items to the China-Nigeria Friendship Primary School in Ogun State.
The donation includes rice, cooking oil, flour, stationery, and other teaching and daily necessities. The gesture also aimed at improving student nutrition, promoting educational equity, and supporting vulnerable children in the host community.
The formal donation ceremony, yesterday, was held at the China-Nigeria Friendship Primary School, drawing key dignitaries, including the Deputy Consul General of China in Lagos, Jin Mingyu; Director Xu of the Consulate, Zhao Fangyu; Executive President of the Cooperation Zone Management Company and Deputy General Manager, Liu Zhigang.
The donation not only demonstrates the deep concern of the Chinese government and enterprises for Nigeria’s education, but also further deepens the friendship and cooperation between China and Nigeria, and reflects the positive actions of Chinese enterprises in fulfilling their social responsibilities and promoting people-to-people exchanges in Africa.
In his speech, Mingyu stressed that education is the cornerstone of national prosperity and development, and China and Nigeria should continue to deepen educational cooperation to meet the needs of community development.
Zhigang pointed out in his speech that while promoting economic development, the free trade zone has always been mindful of fulfilling its social responsibilities and actively engaged in public services, such as education, medical care, and employment.
In his speech, the Oloja Ekun of Igbesaland, Oba Abdulazeez Akinde, appreciated the long-term and firm support of the Chinese Consulate General in Lagos and the Cooperation Zone for the development of community education.
Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, also spoke through his representative, the Regional Education Officer, Adedotun Ogunleye, praising the Consulate and the Free Trade Zone for their thoughtful arrangements and continued contributions.
