Vicky Kaushal, who described his warrior role in Chhaava as his career's toughest and most challenging, must feel a sense of validation as he pours through the stupendous box-office collection. According to Sacnilk, the film has collected Rs3.45 billion since its release in India and beyond 11 days ago.

In the UAE, according to the local distributors the total admissions at cinemas in this region, stand at 69,739 footfall in total. Here's a look back at Kaushal's interview with Gulf News, days before the release of his career-defining film:

“The goal of making this film is to take the story of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj to every household—not just in India but across the world.”

“This has been the most physically demanding role of my career. I had to put on around 25 kilos of muscle, train in sword fighting, and grow my beard and hair for months.”

“Whenever you portray great warriors and kings, the stories are naturally high on emotion. There’s grandeur, history, and a deep connection with the audience.”

“Audiences connect with honesty and authenticity—whether it’s a grand period film or an intimate drama. But when you ask them to spend three hours in a theater, it has to be a visual and emotional treat.”
