Census: NPC warns against fake recruitment website
The National Population Commission (NPC) has issued a public alert, warning Nigerians about a fraudulent website falsely claiming to recruit Ad-hoc staff for the 2025 Population and Housing Census.
In a statement signed by the Director, Public Affairs Erelu Taibat Yemi Oloruntoba, made available to the media on Thursday, the fake website, accessible at https://qpetition.org/NPC-Ad-Hoc-Staff-Recruitment.html, is being used by scammers with the intention of defrauding unsuspecting citizens.
In the statement, the NPC clarified that no recruitment for the census is currently underway.
The Commission emphasized that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has yet to announce a proclamation date for the upcoming census. As such, any recruitment for Ad-hoc staff related to the exercise will only take place once the official census date is set.
The NPC assured the public that any legitimate recruitment for census staff will be widely publicized through national media outlets, as well as the Commission’s official social media platforms and website.
The Commission also urged Nigerians to be vigilant and avoid falling victim to fraudulent activities by disregarding the false information circulating online. They further assured that steps are being taken to investigate and track down those responsible for the fake website.
For accurate and up-to-date information on NPC activities, the public is advised to rely solely on the Commission’s official social media handles and website.
The NPC reiterated its commitment to keeping the public informed as preparations for the first biometric Population and Housing Census in Nigeria continue.
