I recently had the privilege of meeting celebrity stylists Danielle and Alix, and I’ve always been a fan of their casually cool outfits, which are timeless and effortlessly polished while still incorporating current trends. The mega-talented duo specializes in styling looks for red carpets and events, street style moments, and brand campaigns for stars such as Lindsay Lohan, Alix Earle, Danielle Jonas, and Paige Desorbo.
Since Target is one of my favorite affordable spots to snag new fashion, I picked their brains for what’s worth adding to my (and your) summer wardrobes this season. They supplied me with a comprehensive list of versatile pieces, including eyelet shorts, mesh jerseys, capris, and ribbed tanks that I’m buying ASAP. And the best part is that every piece they recommended is under $45.

According to Danielle, everyone needs a staple summer jacket, and this canvas and faux leather bomber jacket comes in a tan colorway that’s “a great neutral tone to throw over any outfit.” The midweight cotton outerwear piece features a faux leather collar and pocket details, as well as a full-length zippered front. Danielle said if you’re going to buy one shoe this summer, it should be these versatile shoes that work for trips to the beach, work, and dinners. It’s hard to beat a $20 price tag for a wear-with-anything handbag like this straw mini bow style. Danielle is all about working smarter, not harder, and incorporating pieces into your closet that can be worn with a multitude of looks. This one works for day to night and “will match anything.”

We’ve seen celebrities like Kendall and Kylie Jenner making a case for casual outfits where staple tank tops are at the forefront. Alix says these classic white tanks are her and Danielle’s No. 1 closet staple and suggests opting for the boys' sizing for a “more fitted look.” I’m personally always looking for a well-fitted tank top, so I will certainly be taking advantage of this sizing hack.

Per Alix, this American flag-clad pullover is the “ultimate summer sweater.” She suggests wearing it over a white tee or tied around your shoulders as a layering piece. It’s made with a midweight fabric and has a loose cut for a boxier fit. Shoppers say it’s a lookalike for a pricier $94 sweater from Lands’ End.

Glasses are an easy accessory to “elevate your look and bring a different vibe to your everyday ‘fits,” according to Alix. This translucent aviator style features UV-protecting lenses that also filter blue light, making them a must-have for working on laptops and smartphones.
