Celebrity Big Brother 'sign up' huge US child star just days before 2025 launch show

Published 1 day ago4 minute read

ITV is rumoured to have snapped up American superstar JoJo Siwa for the next Celebrity Big Brother series.

The performer, nicknamed JoJo from her full name Joelle Joanie, captured hearts when she debuted on season four of Dance Moms on the Lifetime Network back in 2015.

Audiences fell for her buoyant spirit and love for colourful bows—even at just nine years old.

Now 21, JoJo is celebrated for her lively charm, quirky fashion choices, and her breakthrough into the music scene. Sources say the sensation—with a whopping 11 million Instagram followers—has been secured by ITV to grace the Celebrity Big Brother house.

"JoJo is a big name among the highly-coveted younger audience and brings with her a big US fan base," an insider spilled to The Sun. "She's one of those names that regular ITV viewers might not know - but certainly will do by the end of the ITV series. Everyone is excited and hope to get the deal over the line."

The pop sensation and dancer made waves with her 2024 single "Karma," where she shed her childhood image for an edgy punk vibe. April saw the track land at number 76 on the UK Official Singles Chart, reports the Mirror.

Despite constantly facing critics urging her to mature, JoJo has clapped back, insisting she's not yet ready to retire her playful antics.

On TikTok, she shared a video captioned: "Recently I've shown myself looking different, not the classic rainbow, sparkles, and a side ponytail with a JoJo bow. I've been hated on for YEARS for dressing "Young" and acting "Childish".

"People think this is me changing - NOPE! I just love who I am! This is just me at night or in the morning!"

During an interview with Metro, the Karma singer also spoke about her signature style: "I think as I grow older, my fans will also grow older but I don't think there's going to be a time when I'm like, 'I don't want to wear bows anymore, I've got to dress like an old person instead.'

"I don't think it has an age limit on it. I mean, Halloween doesn't have an age limit on it. Wearing a hoodie doesn't have an age limit on it. Why would wearing a bow have an age limit on it?"

Earlier this year, however, JoJo faced criticism for a "tone-deaf" video she created during the LA wildfires.

In a now-deleted Instagram post, shared by her girlfriend Kath Ebbs, JoJo was seen gathering her stuff in case of an evacuation, but some of her "essentials" didn't sit right with her followers.

The video, seen by MailOnline, showed Jojo packing pricey clothes in case she had to leave due to the wildfires. Kath mentioned in the video that they were warned they might have to leave their Tarzana mansion.

Kath took to social media with a sequence of clips, starting off with: "Things my girlfriend packed in case of a fire evacuation."

The footage shows JoJo packing up lavish and sparkling items while jokingly asking: "What else do you need?" JoJo also shared: "I have all my legal documents. I'm going to fill the car up with my favourite things."

However, fans were quick to critique her actions, with one posting: "This is so tone deaf." Another expressed similar sentiments saying: "What about all the people who are losing their homes, family, pets and belongings? What about wildlife? Why post this?"

Additional comments from followers included: "We care about the people who don't have the money to rebuild their lives after the fires," and "I think there are more important things to talk about."

Celebrity Big Brother is all set for its grand return on April 7 on ITV1
