But the gator we are mourning the loss of today does have an L.A. connection. That's Los Angeles instead of the postal abbreviation for Louisiana, which is also LA but without the periods. This gator starred in several feature films and was a featured performer in several hit television shows, too.
His name was Morris, and according to a Facebook post from a Colorado Animal Preserve, he passed away on May 11th. According to Morris's handlers, he was approximately 80 years old, and the cause of death has been listed as old age.
Murphy was featured in films such as Interview with the Vampire, Dr. Doolittle 2, Blues Brothers 2000, and the Adam Sandler hit movie Happy Gilmore. Sandler even paid tribute to his late reptile co-star in a lovely tribute on his X, formerly Twitter, account.
Morris was found in the backyard of a Los Angeles home in 1975. He retired from acting in 2006. He spent his final years at the Colorado Gator Farm in Mosca, Colorado. According to Jay Young, the man who was Morris's handler, Morris was believed to be 80 years old at the time of his passing.
Now, if you want to see alligators but don't want to go to the movies, we can arrange that for you here in Louisiana. Of course, there are some other excursions you might want to take as well.
