Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa, has paid glowing tribute to Bishop David Abioye, describing him as a relentless spiritual pillar during some of the most challenging moments of his military service.

Musa spoke on Sunday during a visit to Living Word Conquerors Global Assembly, Bishop Abioye’s newly founded church, where he shared how the cleric supported him with prayers and encouragement while he was Theatre Commander in the fight against Boko Haram in Maiduguri.

“It has been a long time since I’ve known daddy. He never knew me then, but I didn’t know how he was able to know me. When I was in Maduguri fighting Boko Haram he kept calling me and I was wondering how he got my number, how he knew I was there. But he never relented. And his prayer has continue to make the difference in our lives. And that is to tell you that we serve a living God who will never ever let us down,” the Defence Chief said.

General Musa attended the church service with his wife and children. He praised Bishop Abioye and his wife, referring to them as pillars of faith and consistency. He also spoke about the spiritual strength he has drawn from both leaders.

“I grew in the church, I was born and raised in Sokoto, my wife born and raised in Delta State, she is my pillar, a prayer warrior because she has learnt from mommy. I want to say thank you daddy and mommy for bring this together. I can assure you, the more you attend here, the more blessings you get,” he said.

He urged Christians not to shy away from their identity in Christ, regardless of where they find themselves, and encouraged Nigerians to remain united and prayerful in the face of national challenges.

“God will not allow Nigeria to fall,” he said, calling for continued intercession, especially for the Armed Forces who risk their lives daily to protect the country.

Bishop David Abioye, formerly the first vice president of Living Faith Church Worldwide (Winners’ Chapel), officially started Living Word Conquerors Global Assembly in May, after retiring from his role in Winners’ Chapel in October 2024.

This new church marks a fresh chapter in his ministry as an independent pastor.

The inauguration of the new church’s Sunday morning service came after several months of Sunday evening fellowships. Bishop Abioye emphasized that this new ministry is driven by a divine mandate to inspire personal revival and corporate renewal among believers.
