Pan-African technology company Cassava Technologies and Microsoft have launched a community engagement initiative in South Africa, focusing on establishing training hubs for youth in local communities. This initiative aims to spur employment opportunities in the renewable energy industry by prioritising renewable energy skills development, energy efficiency, and community microgrids. The project will empower the next generation to lead in the transition to clean energy.

The activities will be concentrated in Johannesburg and Cape Town, where both Cassava and Microsoft operate. These training hubs will equip Africa’s women and youth with the necessary skills to thrive in the renewable energy sector, ensuring that the benefits of the energy transition are realised by all. Cassava Technologies, through its renewable energy company and co-location companies, will play a key role in this collaboration, providing local renewable energy expertise to deliver tangible benefits linked to clean energy jobs and projects.

Through this initiative, Cassava and Microsoft are supporting community engagement and sustainable development in the region and across the continent, laying the groundwork for expansion into other African markets.
