Caribbean Music Awards announce 2025 nominees

The organizers of the Caribbean Music Awards have revealed an impressive lineup of nominees across multiple genres, with the winners set to be crowned at a gala ceremony in Brooklyn, New York on August 28, 2025.

The nominations reflect the vibrant diversity of Caribbean music, with heavyweight contenders in Soca, Dancehall, Reggae, and Bouyon categories.

In the Soca Video of the Year category, Patrice Roberts’ “Anxiety” will compete against Nailah Blackman’s “Best Self” and Bunji Garlin’s “Carnival Contract,” among others.

Meanwhile, the Dancehall Video of the Year nominees include Valiant’s “Muhammad,” Shenseea’s “Hit and Run,” and the collaboration between Kranium and Chronic Law titled “Higher Life.”

The Male Soca Artist of the Year category features established stars Kes, Bunji Garlin, Mr Killa, and Skinny Fabulous, alongside rising talent Mical Teja. For Female Soca Artist of the Year, the competition includes Nailah Blackman, Patrice Roberts, Nadia Batson, and Destra Garcia.

In the Dancehall categories, the male division is particularly competitive with Dexta Daps, Vybz Kartel, Busy Signal, Masicka, Chronic Law, Kranium, Valiant, and Sean Paul all vying for the title. The female category sees Stefflon Don, Spice, Shenseea, Jada Kingdom, and Shaneil Muir battling for recognition.

The Reggae Artist of the Year categories feature Shaggy, YG Marley, the late Gramps Morgan, and Sizzla among the male nominees, while Tanya Stevens, Etana, Lila Ike, and Alaine lead the female contingent.

A highlight of the nominations is the Bouyon Artist of the Year category, which includes Mr Ridge, Triple K, Asa Bantan, Kenny G, Shelly Alfred, LittleBoy, Quan, Trilla G, and Pudaz.

The collaborative categories showcase some of the year’s most popular duets and group efforts. The regional hit “Someone Else” by Trilla, Lil Boy, and Quan is nominated for Soca Collaboration of the Year alongside Nailah Blackman and Lyrikal’s “Best Self.”

Several new artists have also received recognition, with Grenada’s Blacka Dan, Star Martin, and Th3rd nominated for Best New Soca Artist, while Armanii, Kraff, Malie Donn, Kman 6ixx, and Lada Lava compete for Best New Dancehall Artist.

Additional categories include Impact Award across all genres, DJ of the Year, Album of the Year, Kompa Band of the Year, and Performer of the Year.
