In a tweet on Monday, June 2, Amisi criticised politicians who are betting on tribal politics to win the 2027 General Election.
The Saboti lawmaker specifically slammed leaders who have been targeting the Luo Nyanza people over their political stand ahead of the next election.
According to Amisi, Nyanza voters, just like any other region, should be persuaded and not abused over their alleged alliance with President William Ruto.
"Attacking Luos won't give you the presidency. Talk to people nicely, including Luos, and you will see the kingdom. You can never win tribal politics against a determined government," Amisi said.
The vocal ODM lawmaker argued that even though many Kenyans are allegedly against Ruto's second term bid, Gachagua is not the best candidate to take power in 2027.
Amisi stated that the former Mathira lawmaker can only help the opposition achieve its objective of removing Ruto from office.
"The Wantam call was better than hating Luos. And remember, #Gachagua can only help remove Ruto but not be an alternative to Ruto," he added.
Recently, Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni also downplayed Gachagua's presidential ambitions.
Addressing the press, Kioni argued that Gachagua’s presidential bid would undermine the opposition’s goal.
He claimed that Gachagua’s candidature would effectively guarantee President Ruto a second term.
The Jubilee Party SG urged the former deputy president to abandon his presidential ambitions and instead support former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi.
The Jubilee Party Secretary-General emphasised that the opposition’s primary aim is to defeat Ruto in the upcoming elections.

In an interview with Citizen Digital on Saturday, May 17, Gachagua called on opposition leaders to back him as their flagbearer for the 2027 General Election.
He described himself as the strongest candidate to challenge President Ruto. However, he noted that discussions with other opposition figures were still ongoing to decide on the most suitable candidate.
Citing the 2002 elections, Gachagua stressed that opposition unity is essential and non-negotiable.
The former Mathira MP has been holding talks with Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa, and former Interior Cabinet Secretary Matiang’i as they work towards forming a coalition to oppose President Ruto.
The former deputy president explained that their unity stems from a shared goal: to remove Ruto from power.
