Speaking to the congregants of Kitale Pentecostal Church on the outskirts of Kitale town, Amisi said it is inhuman and morally unacceptable for some politicians in the vote-rich region to celebrate the downfall of Governor Natembeya.

Amisi, a close ally of Natembeya, called on Western region leaders, irrespective of their political party affiliations, to come out and help Natembeya come out of his tribulations.

“A Lutheran pastor, Martin Niemöller told Germans that there comes a time when there will be no one to stand for you. They came for the communists and you said I am not a communist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and you said I will not help because you are not a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and you said I am not a Jew, Then they came for you there is nobody to help you. So I am calling upon the Western region leaders to come for Natembeya. You are saying you are not a Tawe, you are not a Trans Nzoian, you are not a Luhya, you are not in opposition, wait until they come for you,” Amisi stated on Sunday, May 25.

The vocal Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) legislator serving his second term in the National Assembly urged Christians to pray for Natembeya, who is facing multiple corruption charges.

“Natembeya is facing several corruption charges, which we all know are nothing but false allegations. I therefore ask you to include him in your daily prayer items because we need him to be absolutely free so that he can continue serving you the people of Trans Nzoia,” Amisi appealed.

The fierce critic of President William Ruto and the policies of his administration said he is committed to his oversight role as a lawmaker.

“We do not say William Ruto is bad, but we are saying he is doing wrong things to the people of Kenya. Opposition exists to correct an errant government. When things are working, nobody will speak against the government, we only speak to point out areas that we think are not working,” he added.

Meanwhile, over 120 women from all 25 wards of Trans Nzoia County on Thursday, May 22, started three days of prayers and fasting for Natembeya.

Natembeya was barred by the anti-corruption court from stepping into the county town hall office for 60 days.

Speaking to , Lilian Muchori said their fasting will end on Sunday night, May 25.

After the fasting, the women will be conducting a 3-hour prayer once per week.
