Caitlin Clark hinted at clash with 'rival' Angel Reese before tense shove - NewsBreak
Caitlin Clark's triple-double performance in the Indiana Fever's 93-58 victory over the Chicago Sky was overshadowed by a heated altercation with rival Angel Reese, reigniting their storied rivalry.
Midway through the third quarter, Clark committed a hard foul on Reese, shoving her to the floor as she attempted a shot under the basket. The incident led to a flagrant 1 foul for Clark and technical fouls for both Reese and Fever center Aliyah Boston after a brief confrontation.
The tension between Clark and Reese has been building since their college days, with their matchups consistently drawing national attention. Before the game, Clark addressed the media's focus on their rivalry, saying: "Yeah, I mean, you guys love it, that's for sure."

She added: "Rivalry is great for sport. I understand that. I grew up loving rivalries. I grew up in Iowa. Iowa-Iowa State, that's like a pro matchup in the state of Iowa. I understand that."
During a break before the fourth quarter, Clark spoke with ESPN’s Holly Rowe about the foul and said she didn’t mean any harm by it.
"It's just a good take foul," she told Rowe after the quarter. "You know, it's either Angel gets wide open two points or, you know, we send them to the free throw line.
"Nothing malicious about it. It's just a good take foul. Every basketball player knows that."
The rivalry between Clark and Reese has been a focal point in women's basketball, dating back to their collegiate matchups. Their encounters have consistently drawn significant viewership, highlighting the growing interest in the sport.
“What (Reese) has done with her platform is absolutely incredible,” Clark said back in 2024. “I’ve played her for a very long time, and she’s been a tremendous player. It’s been fun getting to compete against (her).
"I think it’s been really good for the game. People just love seeing great matchups.”
As the WNBA season goes on, the back-and-forth between Clark and Reese keeps fans hooked and adds extra excitement to the league’s landscape.
Again speaking to Rowe after Saturday's game, Clark noted: "I think just keep getting better every single night (is my target).
"Continue to set my teammates up. I know we put up 93 points and won by 30, but I felt like we could still could have been a lot better. So we go back to work.
"We have hard games coming up. That's the thing about this league. You have a couple of days. It's on to the next, on to the next. So how do we keep getting better?"
