Published 10 hours ago1 minute read

Worried by the deteriorating state of infrastructure at the Ogoja Campus of the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS), members of the Cross River State House of Assembly have raised alarm and called for urgent government intervention.

The House, during plenary on Thursday, passed a resolution urging the state government to provide critical infrastructure, including access roads, perimeter fencing, academic structures, and street lighting, within and around the campus.

The resolution followed a motion moved by the member representing Ogoja State Constituency, Hon. Thomas Aruku, who decried the neglect of the campus.

He noted that, of the three campuses established under Law No. 2 of 2020, Ogoja remains in the worst condition.
Supporting the motion, several lawmakers echoed concerns over the impact of the infrastructure deficit on the quality of education.

They stressed that an improved learning environment would elevate both academic performance and the institution’s reputation.

The House unanimously adopted the motion, signalling a united call for immediate action to uplift the campus and address the growing concerns of students, staff, and the Ogoja community.
