The two politicians formed a broad-based government, which saw three ODM members handed key cabinet positions.

Speaking in Homa Bay County on Friday, May 30, Raila defended Ruto amid opposition to their ‘handshake.’

Odinga heaped praise on the government, which he said is now delivering what he had hoped for when he took a stab at the presidency in 2022.

President Ruto, on his part, noted that he joined forces with Raila to bring development countrywide. He said they would ensure naysayers don’t distract them.

Aside from the speeches, the body language between the two was telling, and they looked like two peas in a pod.

The two seemingly synchronized their outfits as they wore similarly colored sun hats. The politicians donned colorful designer shirts.

While launching the Rangwe Sub-county headquarters, the two addressed a crowd of onlookers. Raila was in Ruto's vehicle and spoke from the sunroof.

Ruto was relaxed and even had one foot on the sunroof as Raila spoke.

Another photo showed the politicians flanked by CS Johs Mbadi and MP Peter Kaluma. Raila had seemingly said something funny as they held hands and laughed loudly.

At the Homa Bay modern market, Ruto was shown how to prepare fish as Raila watched.

At one point, Ruto cooked the fish while Raila got ready to add some salt.

The leaders then sat down to share a meal of ugali and fish.

Nicodemus Mong'are, a youth leader and budding politician from Eldoret, told .co.ke that a Ruto, Raila candidacy in 2027 would be formidable.

“The issue would be who would run for president, and who would play second fiddle? Political allegiance is volatile and is based on mutual benefit.
If Raila still has presidential dreams in 2027, it might lead to a fallout."

Kenyans had mixed views about the photos and reacted by saying:

Faith Amondi:

“Love is a beautiful thing.”

Samwel Mwangi Njoroge:

“Raila’s dream has come true — to address people from a presidential car. Let him now retire in peace.”

Eric Kiuru Tosh:

“We are happy to see you together. Kenya is going to benefit a lot from your government.”

Vic Ady Vybz:

In other news, Charlene Ruto stirred public debate by encouraging Kenyans to focus less on blaming leaders and more on being responsible citizens.

She challenged people to consider whether they expect quick fixes to complex problems and urged them to play a more active role in progress.

Her comments sparked mixed reactions, with some supporting her message and others questioning the leadership she seemed to support.
