Brentford player falls over advertising board during throw-in then scores in his team's title win
It was an exciting encounter that saw the young Bees beat Bournemouth 3-2, a result which meant Brentford B had won the Under-23 PDL2 play-off final.
It also meant Brentford ended Bournemouth’s 14-game win streak, incredible achievement in the club’s first season in the competition.
But it was the hilarious tumble that momentarily stole the spotlight from the Europa League final between Manchester United and Tottenham.
At 1-0 down, 19-year-old Iwan Morgan took a throw-in at the 51-minute mark down the left flank, planning a long throw into Bournemouth’s box.
He just kept walking backwards and, then fell over advertising hoardings, doing some sort of comical backflip, amusing fans watching on.
It also led to the commentator saying “Whoops!”.
The incident went viral on social media, garnering thousands of views as fans found it hilarious. In under 24 hours of the clip being posted, it go over 5,600 likes, and 460,000 views on Twitter alone.
Soon after, Iwan Morgan levelled the scoreline, then Romelle Donovan made it 2-1 Brentford.
After Bournemouth made it 2-2, Tony Yogane netted a late winner to make sure the trophy was coming back with them to west London.
“Who needs the #EuropaLeagueFinal when you’ve got this in Bournemouth vs Brentford u21s 😭😭. Over 2000 people seeing you do this live btw, I’d retire from football altogether 😭”

Brentford Under-21s head coach Neil MacFarlane reacted to an excellent comeback win in the PDL final.
“I’m hugely proud of the players and staff, together we’ve worked relentlessly through an unbelievable season, and our mentality and improvements within the group has been phenomenal,” he said.
“I said to the group that the feeling we had last week was not what we wanted and we need to go an extra yard for each other tonight like they’ve done all season.
“We were absolutely electric in the second half, all of the goals we scored were outstanding. You don’t always get what you deserve in football and life but tonight they did.
“It’s an honour to coach them, first of all they are really good people, but also very good footballers and we want to see them go on and sample more nights like tonight.”

: This was the best game on tonight btw
: More entertaining than the final too
: Probably a better standard you’ll be watching. 😂
: This was genuinely a better standard than United v Spurs. Great game too
: whoops haha

: Brings back memories of opposition players falling into that deep trench at the front of New Road back in the day…. #Brentford #BrentfordFC
@ushanotusher: I realised I don’t watch enough low quality football. This is the lowest quality piece of football I’ve watched in over a year. I enjoyed Brentford v Bournemouth at the office better
@_JackBrace: Iwan Morgan has just fallen backwards over the advertising boards as he prepared to take a long throw-in 😂
